Koya Tofu Sweet and Sour
I first introduced the freeze dried tofu, “koya tofu”, in this post.
Because of its unique texture and soy flavor koya tofu is a really fun food to cook with especially if you are a vegan or a vegetarian or simply interested in healthy food options.
The koya tofu fried “chicken” was perfect whens served with a glass of beer, and this sweet and sour is perfect when served with a bowl of white rice!
canola oil
2 clove garlic, chopped
1 onion, cut into bite size pieces
1 pepper, cut into bite size pieces
1~2 carrot, cut into bite size pieces
fried koya tofu
1 cup water
3 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons white vinegar
3~4 tablespoons soy sauce
3 tablespoon ketchup
salt and pepper
corn starch + water, for thickening
1. Sautee garlic in oil.
2. Add vegetables and continue to sautee.
3. Add the fried koya tofu.
4. Add the rest of the ingredients, except for corn starch/water.
5. Add the corn starch/water mixture to thicken the sauce.
