Mom’s Pullman Loaf

When we were staying at my parents’ house while we were back in Japan for two weeks last month, Terry really enjoyed the bread that my mom made.

She has been making this pullman bread for many many years.

Before we left Japan, Terry made sure that I got the recipe from my mom.

So last weekend I decided to try making one myself for the first time.

The whole process was very long, as I had to season my brand new pan first.

But the bread turned out perfect!

Well, almost perfect. I say this because there was a small hole in the middle of the loaf. I think I knew why the hole was there, and I hope changing the way I fold the dough will fix the problem next time.

But Terry said it tasted just like my mom’s and that makes me super happy.

I haven’t had my mom’s bread for a long time, and I forgot how tasty it was.

Toasting a slice and eating it with butter and jam is so simple but absolutely delicious.

Now I can’t wait to make a sandwich with this.

日本に帰国中夫が気に入ったものの一つが、コレ。

母の作る食パン。

冷凍してあるものを毎日トーストにしては美味しい美味しい、とほおばっておりました。

で、何度も、お母さんにレシピ教えてもらってね、と言うので、教えてもらいました。

実は私、食パンって作ったことがなく、今回初めて。

型も初めて河童橋の浅井商店さんで購入。

空焼きなぞというものも頑張ってやって、早速先週末作ってみました。

何ともおそるおそる作ったのですが、出来上がりは、夫のお墨付き～！

“美味しい！、お母さんのと一緒”、だって♪

実は、真ん中に丸い穴が開いてしまったのが私としては残念でしたが、味的には私も大満足。

穴が開いてしまったのは、多分成形の仕方のせいだな、と思い辺るところがあるので、次回はそこを改善してみま～す。

すぐに食べなかった分は冷凍したのですが、

テリー、“これからは、いつもうちにこの食パンがあるようにしてね”、って。

ハイ、頑張ります。
