Peach Ginger Sangria

This week I was lucky to be able to spend five days with Terry in Houston. I had a fantastic time there despite the hot and humid weather, apparently unusual for this time of the year even in Houston. The people in Houston were so friendly and kind, and I was touched by their Southern hospitality. Our friends invited us to their house for a fabulous dinner. And many people stopped and tried to help me when they saw me standing with a map in my hand and thought I was lost (I needed an occasional rest to wipe sweat off my face and fan myself with the map!).
This is a drink I made several weeks ago when we were still complaining about how hot it was in Minnesota: peach ginger sangria. It was delicious if I may say so myself (lol). Pureed peach, ginger flavored syrup (made with sugar, water, slices of ginger), white wine (I used white Lambrusco from Trader Joe’s) were mixed together and it was served with peach slices, ginger slices, and ice cubes. It’s already a little too cold now to enjoy this drink here in Minnesota, but I bet it will taste great in Houston!

今週はテキサス州ヒューストン市で過ごし昨日戻ってきたところ。
まだまだ暑いテキサス、毎日３０度を越える日々、汗だくでダウンタウンをよく歩いた。
ミネソタに戻ると、なんと１５度。。。
留守にしていた一週間で急激に気温が下がったよう。
で、あわててアップしなくちゃ、と思ったのが（笑）コレ、ピーチジンジャーサングリア。
桃と生姜味のサングリア。
ミネソタがまだまだ暑かったころに作った冷たいドリンク。
コレがものすご～く気に入ってあと数回作ろうと思っていたのに、もうこの寒さでは来年までおあずけだわ。
桃のピュレー、生姜シロップ（水、砂糖、生姜の薄切りを沸騰させた味がしっかり移るまで生姜を漬けておいたもの）、白ワイン（私はトレーダージョーズの白ランブルスコというワインを使った）を混ぜたら、桃のスライス、生姜スライス、氷を入れて出来上がり。

っていっても、ついさっきママに会って礼ちゃんがテキサスに行ってることを聞いたばかりなんだけど（笑）。
日本もようやく秋めいてきたのよ。今日なんかは昼間はまだまだ暑いけど、ね。
またテキサスの話もいっぱい楽しみしてるわ☆
そうそう、トレーダージョーズ、最近アメリカに赴任している会社の人におみやげでそこの買い物バッグをいただいたの＊ 赤くってお洒落なのよ。図書館バッグになっちゃったけど☆

白ワインでもサングリアってできるんですね。
うちも中途半端な赤ワインが冷蔵庫にあるから、つくってみようとおもいました！

This was my second visit to Houston this year. I had such a wonderful time both times. I didn’t know you were born there. This time I was particularly happy to feel the summer heat there as the summer is completely gone here in Minnesota.

私はもともとアルコールに弱いので、こんな風にジュース風にするサングリアのほうが断然飲みやすくって。
おっしゃるとおり中途半端に残っているワインがあるときはお勧めです☆

It would taste great here in Memphis too, LOL! We’re still having 90 degree weather here, so that peach drink would be mighty refreshing right about now….:-)!
