Vanilla Cake

I’m usually not a big fan of pre-prepared stuff, like cake mix, or pancake mix, or waffle mix, or cookie mix. I just can’t get rid of the notion that anything out of the box can’t be as good as homemade. However, I might have to rethink about it after tasting this cake.
Here is the vanilla cake Terry made the other day using Trader Joe’s cake mix. We recently bought vanilla beans at Costco (at a great price!) and Terry generously added those vanilla beans to the cake. I have to tell you, this cake was dddddelicious! It was great as it was, but I made a contribution by whipping up vanilla sherry cream to serve with the cake, and with the cream the cake tasted even better! A generous amount of vanilla beans were added to the cream as well. For this, I can’t wait to go get more of those boxes!

バニラケーキ

テリーはほとんどキッチンに立たないのだけれど、ときど～き朝食を作ってくれたり、夜ご飯の後に急に思い立って甘いものを作ったりする。
で、買い物に一緒に行くと、 テリーはワッフルミックスとかクッキーミックスとかすでに粉が混ざっている箱ものを購入したがる。
私は考え方が古い？のか、自分で最初から作ったもののほうがミックスに比べたら美味しいはず！と思いがちなんだけれど、先日テリーが作ってくれたこのケーキは美味しすぎて、ミックスものに対する考え方を変えないといけないかも。。。
このケーキミックスはトレーダージョーズというお店のもの。
普通にシンプルなケーキのミックス。
そこに、最近コストコで見つけたバニラビーンズをテリーが大量に入れてできたちょっと贅沢なバニラケーキ。
それだけでも美味しかったのだけれど、私がちゃちゃっと作ったシェリー酒入りバニラクリーム（ホイップクリームにシェリー酒とバニラビーンズと砂糖を入れたもの）と一緒に食べたらもう最高！
バニラビーンズ、黒い粒粒がしっかり見えるでしょ～。
