Traditional Japanese Food (Japan)
May, 2009
Look at these pictures. Do I need to tell you how beautiful Japanese food can be? Some of the pictures were among the dishes that consisted 11~12 course meal (dinner) served at the inn where we stayed in Gero, a region famous for its hot springs. In traditional Japanese dishes like some of these, you can often find particular ingredients and presentations that reflect the current season. For instance, the dish that looks like the warrior’s helmet (called “kabuto” in Japanese) suggests the celebration of boys that is customary in the month of May in Japan.
