Rice Bowl with Chipotle beef

The beef rice bowl is another popular Japanese dish. There is a chain restaurant called “Yoshino-ya” found in almost every city in Japan that specializes in gyu-don, or beef rice bowl. They serve quick, inexpensive, and tasty lunches to a number of businessmen every day. I’ve never been to the restaurant. It’s a little intimidating to sit at the counter (I believe they only have counter seats and no tables) in a room full of suit-dressed men. But I might try next time when I go back to Japan. It will be an interesting experience.
This is certainly not a traditional beef rice bowl. This rice bowl is jazzed up with chipotle sauce, lots of vegetables, and avocado. I found this chipotle sauce at World Market a few weeks ago. This is a great sauce: hot, sweet, and tangy. Terry and I are planning to go back to the store and get some more, like five more bottles!

甘辛牛丼アボカドのせ

またまた、頑張って半解凍した牛肉をナイフで一枚一枚スライスいたしました。
それもこれも、牛丼が食べたかったから！
ちょっぴり（ってかなりかな？）アレンジしてしまったけれどね。
ブロッコリの茎を細く切ったもの（市販の袋入り）で作ったコールスローをご飯にのせたら、しょうゆ、砂糖、チポートレというメキシコ風の甘辛いソースで味付けした牛肉と玉ねぎをのせて、さらにその上にアボカドをのせて。
マヨネーズが入ったコールスローをのせているところで、Ｂ級グルメになっちゃったかなあ（笑）。
マヨネーズが苦手な夫には、同じブロッコリの薄切り茎を軽く油で炒めたもので代用。
夫はアボカドも苦手だからコレもなし。
いろいろオーダーメイドに出来るところは二人ご飯ならでは、かも（笑）。
