Tomato Risotto with Mussels

Here is the third mussel dish I made from a large bagful of mussels I got from Costco. I first made two pasta dishes and then froze the rest. I made this risotto with the frozen mussels that were quickly thawed right before added to the risotto. There are still some left frozen, and I’m thinking of making one more dish with them. Probably soup…

ムール貝入りトマトリゾット

先日大量に購入したムール貝。

白ワイン蒸しにして、残ったものを冷凍しておいたので、それを解凍して作ったのが、コレ。
トマト味のリゾット。

リゾットって時々食べたくなるんだけれど、夫はこの食感がイマイチダメらしい（悲）。

ムール貝、まだもう少し残っている。。。

Pasta with Mussels and Blue Cheese Cream Sauce

I wasn’t sure about the combination of mussels and blue cheese. But this was actually surprisingly delicious! There were still so many mussels left after I made this dish, and I decided to freeze them. I’m thinking about making risotto and/or soup with these mussels next time.

ムール貝のパスタとブルーチーズクリームソース

ムール貝を使ったパスタ料理をもう一つ。

白ワインで蒸し焼きしたムール貝、玉ねぎ、にんにく、生クリーム、ブルーチーズで作ったソースを茹でたパスタとあえたら、仕上げにさらにブルーチーズをのせパセリを散らして、出来上がり、

ブルーチーズ好きにはたまらない美味しさ。
いつもブルーチーズは入れすぎてしまいがちな私。
今回は“入れすぎないこと、入れすぎないこと”、とつぶやきながら（笑）ブルーチーズを加えたので、出来上がりはばっちり。

ちなみに、ワイン蒸しにしたムール貝、かなり残ってしまったので、殻からはずして、蒸し汁とともに冷凍。
今週末ぐらいにまたムール貝料理、再開したいと思っている。

Seafood Egg Rice Bowl with Sweet and Sour Sauce

This was a very tasty and satisfying lunch. Cook seafood and egg (mixed with a little sugar and salt) in a pan and put it on rice. Serve it with sweet and sour sauce, green onion, and red ginger. Red ginger is very very important in this dish, and I don’t recommend making this rice bowl without it. Jarred red ginger is sold at Asian grocery stores.

sweet sour sauce: ketchup, soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, sugar, water, corn starch

甘酢あんかけ海鮮卵どんぶり

シーフードミックスをさっと炒めたところに、少し甘くした卵を入れて、さっと火が通ったら、丼にすでに盛っておいたご飯にのせる。
仕上げに甘酢あんかけをたら～っとかけて、小ねぎと紅生姜をのせたら、出来上がり。

夫は、酢は苦手なのに酢豚が好き（笑）、というのを最近発見して以来、酢豚みたいなたれを他のものにも使ってみたいなあ、と思っていた。

コンピューターをいじっていた彼のために書斎に持っていってあげたら、一口食べて、“たれもっとある？”って。

キッチンに戻って、たれを更にた～っぷりた～っぷりかけてあげた。

ちなみに、この丼の決め手は、絶対紅生姜！
きゅっと味を引き締めてくれる強～い味方（笑）。
紅生姜無しで作るのはお勧めできないぐらい。

甘酢あん：　ケチャップ、しょうゆ、酢、砂糖、ごま油、水、コーンスターチ

Pasta with Mussels and White Wine Sauce

Since I saw a pasta dish with clams and white wine sauce on TV the other day, I have been having a craving for such pasta. Unfortunately Constco is the only place around here that sells shellfish , and their packages are huge… They had both clams and mussels today, and they were sold in huge bags. I only needed one tenth of a bag… It took me a while to decide which to buy, but I ended up with a bag of mussels, as they were about half the price. I made this pasta dish using the mussels. This is a simple dish, made with cooked pasta, garlic, onion, white wine, lemon juice, butter, salt, pepper, and parsley. I made one more pasta dish using the mussels, but I’m still left with so many I don’t know what to do with…

ムール貝のパスタ、白ワインソース

先日テレビでハマグリのパスタを見て以来、貝のパスタが食べたいなあ、と思っていた。

残念なことに、この辺りで貝を売っているところといったら、コストコぐらい。。。

で、コストコ、と言ったら、ひとパッケージが大きいことが売り。

はまぐりもムール貝も、どちらとも、一袋がものすごい量。
この１０分の１売ってもらえませんか？、というぐらい。。。

結局、安かったムール貝を購入。

まずは、にんにく、たまねぎ（本当はシャロットがいい）、白ワインで、蒸し焼き。

貝の中身を取り出して、にんにく、たまねぎ、と一緒にさっと炒めたら、蒸し焼きした残り汁を入れ更に白ワインを足してひと煮立ち　（なんだか二度手間っぽい？）。
茹でたパスタを入れて、レモンを絞りたっぷりバターを落としたら、トマトとパセリを散らして、出来上がり。
シンプルだけどムール貝の美味しさがしっかり堪能できる。

ムール貝を使ったパスタ料理、もう一品作ったので、またそちらも紹介する予定。

それにしてもムール貝、量がありすぎ!
蒸し焼きしたものがかなり大量に残っている。

今後はこれはグループ買いでもして分けないとダメかもね～。

Curry Carbonara with Salmon

I know, you are not supposed to mix seafood with cheese. Well, this was an experiment, and I have to say I liked this dish. To add the curry flavor I mixed a little curry powder in the cheese/egg yolk/cream mixture.

サーモン入りカレー風味カルボナーラ

シーフードとチーズはあわせるものじゃない、とよく言われる。

だから今回はルール違反ね（笑）。

個人的には悪くないと思うんだけれどなあ。

今回はパルメジャンチーズを使ったカルボナーラ。

クリーミーなソースはほのかなカレー風味。

仕上げにパセリを散らして。

サーモン入りカレー風味カルボナーラ：　フェットチーニ（少し幅広のパスタ）、ベーコン、にんにく、サーモン、卵黄、パルメジャンチーズ、生クリーム、カレー粉、塩、こしょう、パセリ
