I hardly ever buy cookbooks. There are so many great recipes available on the Internet, and I usually like to “not” follow recipes, but create my own things. A few months ago, though, I suddenly had an urge to buy a cookbook. One of the reasons was probably because I had this new spot on a shelf in the kitchen, and I realized I didn’t have many cool cookbooks to display there. I started my google search, by typing “best cookbook”. I didn’t really think I would run into any useful information by doing that, but surprisingly I did. One book kept popping up in many sites. Quite a few people recommended this cookbook, called, “All About Braising<\/a>” by Molly Stevens, as the best cookbook they ever owned. I instantly got interested because I love braised food, and braising is one of the cooking techniques that I enjoy using. I also like it when the whole house smells wonderfully with this slow cooking method used. <\/p>\n

Here is the dish I tried first from this book: Porter Braised Short Ribs with Rosemary Maple Glaze. I enjoyed both cooking and eating this dish. The extra step to broil the meat with the glaze at the end really gives a wonderful flavor to this dish. I’ve never really had success with cooking with beer. But this one turned out great! The beer didn’t give any unpleasant bitterness, instead, it added depth to the flavor. I can’t wait to try other recipes in the book! <\/p>\n
