Poached Salmon with Basil Sauce<\/strong>

One of my blog friends told me about this German movie, “Mostly Martha”. She said this was the original version of the Hollywood movie, “No reservations” which was a pretty big hit about a few year ago. I liked “No Reservations”, so I was curious about this original version. A few weekends ago I went to Blockbuster and got this movie. Actually I didn’t expect to find it because I thought it was too minor for them to carry in their store. So I was pleasantly surprised when I found it at their very small foreign movie section. The movie was good, but it seemed a bit bland, probably because I was comparing it with the very dramatic Hollywood version. I actually liked the original story better. In this movie Martha (a brilliant chef) says simple foods are the most difficult to prepare, or something like that, and she listed “salmon with basil sauce” as one of those dishes. Personally, I don’t think salmon with basil sauce is that simple a dish, but I borrowed the idea and decided to make my version of salmon with basil sauce for dinner a few days later. I poached salmon and served it with mayo and yogurt based basil sauce. I don’t know if this is what Martha had in mind, but Terry and I liked this dish very much. <\/p>\n
