{"id":43677,"date":"2017-05-27T23:17:35","date_gmt":"2017-05-28T03:17:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.culinarytribune.com\/?p=43677"},"modified":"2017-05-27T23:18:36","modified_gmt":"2017-05-28T03:18:36","slug":"thai-basil-king-mushrooms%e3%81%8d%e3%81%ae%e3%81%93%e3%82%ab%e3%83%aa%e3%83%95%e3%83%a9%e3%83%af%e3%83%bc%e3%82%ac%e3%83%91%e3%82%aa%e3%83%a9%e3%82%a4%e3%82%b9","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.culinarytribune.com\/?p=43677&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Thai Basil King Mushrooms<br>\u304d\u306e\u3053\u30ab\u30ea\u30d5\u30e9\u30ef\u30fc\u30ac\u30d1\u30aa\u30e9\u30a4\u30b9"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-43678 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.culinarytribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/38-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"510\" height=\"717\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We traveled so much this time during our stay in Japan, and we didn&#8217;t have a lot of time to spend at my parents&#8217; house.<\/p>\n<p>But when we were at their house, I enjoyed my time with my family, and my mom and sister cooked us terrific meals.<\/p>\n<p>Our last meal the night before our departure was prepared by my mother and my sister both.<\/p>\n<p>For an appetizer my mother made us veggie tempura which was divine, and for the main dish my sister made Thai basil chicken over rice, which is called &#8220;Gapao Rice&#8221; in Japan.<\/p>\n<p>This dish was new to both of us, but the combination of basil, fish sauce, spicy and sweet flavored sauce, and a fried egg was intriguing, and my husband and I both devoured it.<\/p>\n<p>So, here is my arranged version I made last night for dinner.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-43679 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.culinarytribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/34-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"365\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I used king mushroom and cauliflower in place of chicken, and this turned out delicious!!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-43680 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.culinarytribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/39.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"510\" height=\"717\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-43681 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.culinarytribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/41-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"365\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.culinarytribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/41-2.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.culinarytribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/41-2-450x321.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You break the egg yolk and make each bite where you can enjoy everything together, the rice, the veggies, the egg, and the basil&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-43682 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.culinarytribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/42-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"510\" height=\"717\" \/><\/p>\n<div id=\"recipe\"><strong>Thai Basil King Mushrooms<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>canola oil<br \/>\n3~4 cloves garlic, chopped<br \/>\n2 king mushrooms, chopped<br \/>\n1 cup chopped cauliflower<br \/>\n1\/2 green or red pepper, chopped<br \/>\nsalt and pepper<br \/>\ncrushed red pepper<br \/>\n1~2 tablespoon cane sugar<br \/>\n1~2 tablespoon soy sauce<br \/>\n1 tablespoon oyster sauce<br \/>\n1~2 teaspoons fish sauce<br \/>\n1 teaspoon toban-djan (chili bean paste)<br \/>\nThai basil, chopped<br \/>\n2 cups cooked rice<br \/>\n2 fried eggs<\/p>\n<p>1. Cook garlic in oil.<br \/>\n2. Add mushrooms, cauliflower, and pepper, and continue to sautee. Salt and pepper. Sprinkle crushed red pepper.<br \/>\n3. Add sugar, soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and toban-djan.<br \/>\n4. Add basil, and combine well.<br \/>\n5. Serve over cooked rice and a fried egg. Reasonable. Stores located all around Japan, but not in Hokkaido or Okinawa. The wooden trays (photos above) were bought at Nitori.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.muji.com\/jp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mujirushi-Ryohin<\/a>: Furniture, home decor, clothing, food. Reasonable. Simple design.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tokyu-hands.co.jp\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tokyu-Hands<\/a>: Home decor, appliances, electronics, stationary, everything! Fun and interesting stuff.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.loft.co.jp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Loft<\/a>: Home decor, stationary, cosmetics&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>-100-Yen Shops such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cando-web.co.jp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Can Do<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.daiso-sangyo.co.jp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Daiso<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seria-group.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Seria<\/a>. I probably had the best shopping time at these 100-Yen shops.
