{"id":42129,"date":"2016-11-12T19:06:04","date_gmt":"2016-11-13T00:06:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.culinarytribune.com\/?p=42129"},"modified":"2016-11-12T19:27:57","modified_gmt":"2016-11-13T00:27:57","slug":"spam-sushi%e3%82%b9%e3%83%91%e3%83%a0%e5%af%bf%e5%8f%b8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.culinarytribune.com\/?p=42129&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"SPAM Sushi<br>\u30b9\u30d1\u30e0\u5bff\u53f8"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-42130 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.culinarytribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/7.jpg\" alt=\"7\" width=\"596\" height=\"428\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.culinarytribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/7.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.culinarytribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/7-450x322.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 596px) 100vw, 596px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For the readers that have been following my blog the past few years, or even just a few weeks, this is probably not the kind of post you expected.<\/p>\n<p>Well, I didn&#8217;t expect to have a post like this myself either.<\/p>\n<p>But here it is.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-42131 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.culinarytribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/1.jpg\" alt=\"1\" width=\"510\" height=\"717\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.culinarytribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/1.jpg 455w, https:\/\/www.culinarytribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/1-320x450.jpg 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 510px) 100vw, 510px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We visited Austin Minnesota this June.<\/p>\n<p>When you go to this quiet small town, you cannot miss the SPAM museum, so we went.<\/p>\n<p>The museum was interesting and of course they have a lovely gift shop inside the building.<\/p>\n<p>We, who are on the 95% plant based diet, had no plan to eat SPAM, ended up coming home with three different flavored SPAMs.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-42146 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.culinarytribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/09-1.jpg\" alt=\"09\" width=\"596\" height=\"428\" \/><\/p>\n<p>They were sitting in our pantry for many months, and when we decided to host a happy hour at our house Friday, we announced that we would serve SPAM sushi along with flatbread pizza.<\/p>\n<p>Hey, this seemed like a perfect opportunity to finally open those cans.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-42132 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.culinarytribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/3.jpg\" alt=\"3\" width=\"510\" height=\"717\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.culinarytribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/3.jpg 455w, https:\/\/www.culinarytribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/3-320x450.jpg 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 510px) 100vw, 510px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We thought it would be a fun conversation starter and told ourselves that it would be okay to have a lot of leftover.<\/p>\n<p>Well, it turned out that they were gone in a half hour!<\/p>\n<p>I was glad that we could share this fun experience with a group of awesome friends.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SPAM sushi<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>3~4 cups cooked Japanese rice<br \/>\n1~2 tablespoons white vinegar<br \/>\n1~2 tablespoons sugar<br \/>\nsalt<br \/>\n2 cans SPAM, sliced and cut into 32 round shapes<br \/>\ncanola oil<br \/>\n4 eggs<br \/>\n1 teaspoon sugar<br \/>\nsalt<br \/>\nteriyaki sauce (cook soy sauce and sugar mixture (1:1) until achieving preferred thickness)<br \/>\nchopped scallion<br \/>\nnori (Japanese roasted seaweed sheets) cut into strips<\/p>\n<p>1. Make sushi rice. Add a mixture of sugar, vinegar, and salt to cooked rice when the rice is still hot. Mix well while cooling the rice with a fan.<br \/>\n2. Cook SPAM both sides with canola oil.<br \/>\n3. Add sugar and salt to eggs and mix well. Cook the mixture in a pan over low heat covered. Cut into 16 round shapes.<br \/>\n4. Assemble sushi with sushi rice, SPAM, and eggs (optional) and NORI (optional).
