{"id":38060,"date":"2015-12-24T19:17:14","date_gmt":"2015-12-25T00:17:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.culinarytribune.com\/?p=38060"},"modified":"2015-12-25T20:09:20","modified_gmt":"2015-12-26T01:09:20","slug":"tomato-miso-oden%e3%83%88%e3%83%9e%e3%83%88%e5%91%b3%e5%99%8c%e3%81%8a%e3%81%a7%e3%82%93","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.culinarytribune.com\/?p=38060&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Tomato Miso Oden<br>\u30c8\u30de\u30c8\u5473\u564c\u304a\u3067\u3093"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.culinarytribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/72.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[38060]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-38061 aligncenter\" alt=\"72\" src=\"https:\/\/www.culinarytribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/72.jpg\" width=\"717\" height=\"506\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tomato Miso Oden<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is a Japanese winter dish called <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Oden\" target=\"_blank\">Oden<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>There are different ways to make this, but in the region I grew up we use dark miso called Haccho miso to create thick broth.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s hard to find this particularly type of miso in the US and I decided to do something different this time. <\/p>\n<p>I still used regular dark miso, but added tomato paste.<\/p>\n<p>It may sound strange, but this combination turned out to be just delicious!<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s another ultimate comfort food for me. <\/p>\n<p>Merry Christmas everyone!<\/p>\n<div id=\"recipe\">\n<strong>Tomato Miso Oden<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>dark miso soup<br \/>\n&#8211; 1000cc water<br \/>\n&#8211; 2 large dried konbu sheets<br \/>\n&#8211; 150g aka (dark) miso<br \/>\n&#8211; 170g tomato paste<br \/>\n&#8211; 150g sugar<br \/>\n1 package konnyaku (cooked in boiling water for a few minutes first), cut into bite sized pieces<br \/>\n1\/2 daikon radish, cut into bite sized pieces<br \/>\n4 boiled eggs<br \/>\n1 package fried tofu, cut into bite sized pieces <\/p>\n<p>1. Make dark miso soup. Put water and konbu sheets in a large pot. Boil and then simmer.<br \/>\n2. Add konnyaku, daikon, eggs, and Tofu. Cook over medium-low heat for about one hour or daikon is cooked through.<br \/>\n3. Let it cool. Let it rest in fridge overnight; it tastes so much better the next day.<br \/>\n4. Reheat before
