Apple Cheese Danish<\/strong>

When I was growing up, my mother used to bake all different kinds of bread and pastries, and her apple bread was one of my sister’s and my favorites. Her apple bread was something between the bread and the danish. It was buttery but at the same time it was heavier than the traditional type of danish and rather nice and chewy. I also loved my mother’s homemade sweet and tangy apple filling. I’ve got the recipe from my mother, and I can’t wait to make it myself.<\/p>\n

This is the apple and cheese danish I made for breakfast last weekend (This is NOT my mother’s apple bread!). I liked the combination of cheese cream and apple on the flaky pastry. This was so easy because I used store-bought puff pastry.<\/p>\n

I used this recipe<\/a> for the filling. I liked it, but I’d like to try making cheese filling without using cream cheese next time. I noticed that some recipes for cheese filling call for “farmer’s cheese”. I looked for farmer’s cheese at the local grocery store, but I was not able to find it. I should probably keep looking…<\/p>\n
