<\/a><\/p>\nSuper Bowl Party Food!<\/strong> Terry and I had a small family get together at our house last night to watch the Super Bowl game. We started eating snacks and drinking around 3p.m.. As my sister-in-law was bringing lasagna for dinner, I decided to make only a few light snacks we could munch on before the game. Bacon-wrapped weenies were cooked with a generous amount of brown sugar until bacon turned crispy. The other thing I made was deep-fried green beans. They were served with sweet chili sauce. I used tempura batter (I used a store-bought pre-made tempura batter mix (powder) my mother sent me from Japan), and they turned out perfect. You can, of course, make tempura batter from scratch as well, with flour, eggs, and water. One of the secrets for making the light fluffy deep fried vegetable is to use ice chilled batter. Those snacks were a big hit, but then the dinner was fabulous, too! My sister-in-law makes the best lasagna!! With good food, great company, and a big screen in our home theater, I think our party was a success. And the Packers victory didn’t hurt, either.
