<\/a><\/p>\n“O-SE-CHI” Style Celebration Box<\/strong> Happy New Year, everyone!<\/p>\n At the beginning of this year I want to thank you all who visited my blog today and those who have been following my blog regularly. I started this blog several years ago, and I now have about 1000 visits a day, and people visit my blog from all over the world; Last month there were visits from over 90 countries! I originally started this blog to share my passion for food (and later for photography) with my family in the US and Japan, but it has become much more than that over the past few years. I’ve met so many great people through this blog. Once again, thank you for your visit. Please feel free to leave a comment even just to let me know what country\/city you are visiting from. <\/p>\n Osechi is a Japanese traditional boxed meal that is prepared to celebrate new year. The traditional osechi consists of various certain dishes, each of which is supposed to bring prosperity, health, longevity, and good luck. Osechi is prepared in a large quantity right before new year so that mothers can relax and spend time with the family and guests during the o-sho-gatsu period (the first three days of January) without worrying about cooking.<\/p>\n Here is my version of Osechi. None of the dishes in my boxes are traditional osechi dishes, because 1) It’s hard to find ingredients here and 2) Terry (or I) would not particularly like some of the dishes. So all the dishes included in my box are ones that Terry and\/or I can really enjoy.
