Easter Brunch at Three Squares Restaurant
Brunch April 4, 2010
Terry and I made a reservation for Easter Brunch at Three Squares Restaurant right away when we received an e-mail from them about their family style brunch. We dined there on Valentine’s Day a few months ago and we were very happy with their fixed dinner, so we were pretty excited about yesterday’s brunch. The Easter brunch was a three-course meal and served in a family style. The first course was an orange cinnamon bun and fresh fruits. A large plate of eggs, cheesy potatoes, pork tenderloin, stuffed mushrooms, and french toast came next. Then, a bowl of mango and pomegranate sorbet was served as dessert. We liked the orange bun, cheesy potatoes, and sorbet. The pork was unfortunately too dry and I only had two small bites. Overall, it was a satisfying meal, but I have to say it did not meet our expectations. Based on our past dining experiences there, I felt they could have done better in terms of menu and execution. Their dishes usually have an interesting twist, and I would have liked to see a little more of that: some kind of surprise and uniqueness. The whole meal was pretty traditional. Also some of the dishes (especially pork and eggs) should have been cooked a little more professionally, too.
One of the fun things you find at this restaurant is their eclectic collection of mug cups. They are all different, and they look like they came from the back of grandma’s kitchen cabinets. Last time I was there, my coffee came in a cup that had a logo that said something like “Grandma, Las Vegas”! Anyway, here is the mug cup that my black tea was served in yesterday. My brother-in-law is a big fan of John Deere tractors, and I wanted to post these pictures for him.
