  • Great pictures! I didn’t notice guacamole or avocados however. We had each all over while in Zihuatanahua, Mexico several years ago and both were so delicious everywhere! Betty Crocker did a Mexican cookbook with a Mexican chef over 20 years ago and one recipe was nogata/nogada sauce—translated as Chiles in Walnut Sauce. It is a complex recipe like a mole with about 20 ingredients! I can copy and mail you the recipe if you want.

Thanks, Lori! I love avocado and guacamole but Terry is not a big fan of them so maybe that was why it didn’t appear in any of these pictures. I had Chile en Nogada for the first time in my life and it was absolutely delicious. I was so surprised to learn that it’s a classic Mexican dish, yet you never see it in any Mexican restaurants in the US. The recipe being complex like you said might be the reason for that. If it’s not too much trouble, I would love the recipe. 🙂
