This was our second time to check out this new local jazz bar, Vieux Carré.
There is a bar in the middle and tables are placed around a small stage.
As the name of the restaurant indicates, there is New Orleans/French influence everywhere.
The first time we were here a few weeks ago, we only went there to meet up with a few friends, and we didn’t stay long or try their food. This time we decided to try their plate called Slow Marinated Apricots. It was very good. I liked the idea of sweet apricots and salty prosciutto and olives, but the dish as a whole was a bit too sweet for me.
We had no idea who was playing the night (or whether there was any show at all), but we were so lucky to get to see these guys, Nikki Roux and Rich Rue. Ms. Roux was an awesome singer and their choice of music really was perfect for me. They played this song and I absolutely loved it! (I didn’t know this was a hit from 1967 and later I listened to the original version and I didn’t care for it). I can’t wait to go back to see Ms. Roux again!
