Green Tea Magic Custard Cake
I use Pinterest to organize my wants and needs, but I also use the bookmark bar on my computer to keep things that catch my eye.
My bookmark list was getting so long that I decided to clean it up a little bit.
During that process, I ran into this recipe (again), and I felt it was finally time to make this.
The first time I saw this post, the name, “Magic Custard Cake”, was intriguing, but I was amazed by the beautiful two layers created in the cake.
I was going to say it was unforgettable, but I eventually forgot about it (apparently). The post was dated March 2013.
I’m so glad that I kept this post this long.
I made my version with a green tea flavor, and this cake was so good. It was indeed magical!!
Like they were saying in their post, I was so skeptical when I was putting the pan in the oven because the texture of the batter looked so wrong. It looked curdled and watery.
But the final result was perfect! My cake had beautiful two layers just like theirs, and it was delicious!
A few notes for myself. 1) Line the pan with foil. It will make it easier to remove the cake from the pan. 2)Check the cake after it’s baked for 35~40 minutes. You may not need to bake for 45 minutes.
Green Tea Magic Custard Cake
Follow this recipe. I added a mixture of one teaspoon of warm water and a teaspoon of green tea (macha) powder and omitted vanilla extract.
抹茶びっくりカスタードケーキ
何がびっくりかというと。。。
普通にタネを作って型にながして焼くと、焼き上がりが二層になっている!、というところ。
下がカスタード、上がケーキ。
何も言わなかったら、カスタードとケーキを別々に作ったみたいに見えるよね。
手間がかかってそうでかかってない、というのが嬉しいところ。
参考にしたレシピはバニラ味だったのですが、私は抹茶味で作ってみました。
先日の鍋ランチの後に出しましたが好評でした。
甘さ控えめで美味しいのです。注意していないと(苦笑)私数時間置きにつまんでしまいます。
お客さんカップルはご主人がいつも料理担当されるぐらいお料理上手なのですが、彼、この↓のお皿にも目をとめてくれて嬉しかったですね~。
