Muffuletta Spaghetti Carbonara

I found this jar of olive muffuletta (they somehow spelled it, “Muffalata”) at Costco the other day. That brought back the memory of the muffuletta sandwich I had in New Orleans a few years ago. I liked the sandwich so much that when I got home from New Orleans I was determined to make this sandwich myself. Then a few years went by… So when I saw the olive muffuletta at Costco I decided to buy a jar. The label on the jar said you can use this for not only sandwiches but also for pasta, eggs, and other things, so I decided to add a little to my spaghetti carbonara. The olives and other vegetables give a nice freshness to the spaghetti and I enjoyed it very much. I always thought muffuletta salad is vinegary, but this muffuletta salad does not contain vinegar, which was a bit disappointing to me. I am keeping this jar but I’m interested in trying different muffuletta salads.

マファレッタカルボナーラ

マファレッタというと、たいていはニューオーリンズで有名なサンドイッチを指します。
イタリア系のサンドイッチで、長細いパンに、サラミやらハム、チーズ、そして、たっぷりのオリーブと野菜の酢漬けが入ったもの。
数年前にニューオーリンズでこれを初めて食べたときはその美味しさに感動したものです。
で、帰ってきてすぐのときには、絶対自分でも作ってみようと、誓っていたのに（笑）、気がついたらもう数年たってました。。。
そして、数週間前にコストコで、ニューオーリンズ風オリーブマファレッタという瓶詰めのものを見つけ、一気にあのサンドイッチの思い出がよみがえってきた、というわけです（笑）。
で、早速一瓶買ってきました。
サンドイッチに入っている酢漬けの野菜を瓶詰めにしたものです。
このコストコのものは、どうも酢が入ってなかったのと、オリーブマファラッタというだけあって、オリーブが主で、他の野菜が少なかったのが予想はずれでしたが、まあいろいろなものに使えそうです。
瓶についていたラベルをみたら、サンドイッチのほかにも、卵やらパスタにも使える、とのことなので、早速まずパスタで試してみました。
カルボナーラ～！
仕上げに少しこのマファラッタを加えました。
いつものカルボナーラにフレッシュ感が出てなかなかよかったで～す。
でも、酢が入った別のマファラッタサラダもやっぱり欲しいなあ。
